As a student of the University of Exeter, I am disgusted that you say that the university is a violently racist one. This is a horrible misrepresentation, and you should be ashamed. Yes, the theme could be interpreted in a way that is perceived as racist, and the individuals who do this should be prosecuted and dealt with. They are horrible creatures. However, this does not make the university racist. The offense that this letter has caused is outrageous
Hi Alan, we are not saying the University is a “violently” racist university. We are putting this theme in a context. That this university is no strange to racist incidents says a lot not only about the theme but confirms that we are right in campaigning against this theme. As our campaign has gone forward, we have received sexist and racist abuse from opponents. We think this is what you should be ashamed of, and this is what the University WILL be ashamed of come the SSB ball. In sum, you should be more concerned about the racial hatred campaigners and students have received about how tribal offends THEM rather than our categorization of the university with a clear history of racism.
